Discount on Domestic Flights in Ethiopia
If you fly into Ethiopia with Ethiopian Airlines, you’re in luck. You’ll be eligible for a discount on domestic flights in Ethiopia. All you have to do is bring a copy of your ticket and you’ll be issued the local price.
Some travelers like to have all their flights booked ahead of time, which is understandable, but by doing so, you’ll pay almost THREE times the regular price. If you don’t fly into Ethiopia with Ethiopian airlines then you’ll have no choice but to pay the highest price for domestic flights, all more of an incentive to fly with Ethiopian Airlines.
If you’re flying into Ethiopia, it is likely you’ll be landing in Addis Ababa. From the airport, you’re no more than 20 minutes or so by taxi from the Ethiopian Airline office. Just show your taxi driver this photo and he/she will know where to go.
The lines are incredibly long and the process is slow, so be ready to be here for at least an hour or so. You can purchase your ticket with cash or credit card; I used my Chase card, which worked perfectly fine.
Most importantly, remember to bring copies of your ticket flying into Ethiopia with Ethiopian airlines. The savings are worth it!

HI Tyreek . Great info here, thanks for sharing. Quick Q: I am flying OUT of the country on Ethiopia. Do you know if I might be able to get the discount that way? Is there a way to get the discount online instead of waiting to buy at the ticket office? I am afraid my flight from ADD to Mekele might sell out, you know? Thank you!

Hey Rob, that’s a good question. You should definitely be eligible for the discount, but I don’t know if you can get it online since they need to see proof.
I visited Ethiopia years ago during the holiday season and none of the flights were sold out.
