Best Budget Hotel in Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang was nothing short of amazing, but what really made my experience that much greater was my stay at Villa Ban Phanluang, the best budget hotel in Luang Prabang. Located just a short ride away from the city center, this hotel meets all the requirements of a great place to stay at: welcoming staff, clean and spacious rooms, delicious breakfast, top notch service, and inexpensive.

Rooms:

Villa Ban Phanluang offers 6 types of room ranging from a Double Room to Deluxe Family Room. I stayed in the “Superior Double Room”, which I found to be excellent. The bed is large and very clean. I always do a scan of the bottom layer sheets before getting into a bed, and this place did not disappoint. Pure white. Yeah, that’s a little over the top, but I’m a clean freak haha.

The bathroom is large and the shower has strong-pressure hot water with no lapses in the temperature like you often see at other hotels in Southeast Asia.

Services:

Villa Ban Phanluang pretty much has everything you’re looking for. You can purchase your tickets for other cities in Laos, even ones in Vietnam and Thailand.

Looking to book a tour in Luang Prabang? You can also do that here. I arranged for my van to Kuang Si for just 50,000 kip, which leaves 3 times a day.  Additionally, there is laundry service here for just 10,000 kip per kilogram.

The coolest thing about this place was the free bike rental service. Just grab any bike you’d like and you’re all set. The city center is just a quick 6-minute ride away. With tuk-tuk drivers charging foreigners as much as 50,000 for short rides within the city, it’s much better to ride your bike everywhere, besides, what better way explore to Luang Prabang than by bike anyway?

Breakfast:

This was the highlight of my stay! Free breakfast is delivered straight to your balcony. There is no better way to start the day. I recommend the banana pancakes…incredible!

Price:

The price varies by the time of the year of course, but generally the rooms appear to be under $40 a night. I visited in October and my room came out to about $35 a night, but it can be as low as $25, a true steal.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend Villa Ban Phanluang if you find yourself in Luang Prabang, you won’t regret it!
